Artistic Director

Hetty Nelson co-founded Burning Speare with writer Simon Rance, partly because coming from an acting background she wanted an opportunity to challenge herself and truthfully, was a little bit scared of performing Shakespeare!

Drama school took the fun out of the Brad's work for Hetty and not being able to feel the sense of accomplishment one can attain from performing Shakespeare plays left a void.

Starting Burning Speare in 2019 Hetty's mission was to bring like-minded people together to adapt, develop and celebrate Shakespeare's work whilst making his plays more accessible and relatable to wider audiences.

Writer

Simon Rance -adapted Burning Speare's two Shakespeare productions, 'O For A Muse Of Fire' and 'Measure For Measure' and wrote the company's debut play 'The End Of Silence'.

Simon's childhood acting days ignited his passion for The Bard when he performed with the English Shakespeare Company.
